About US

Decades of Experience. Dozens of Happy Clients.

01. robust portfolio

L

We have been writing for clients for more than three decades. Our clients range from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Our work includes website content, press materials, newsletters, brochures, blogs, advertising copy, feature articles, technical flyers, product sheets. We’ve probably forgotten something: It’s been decades of writing!

02. old-fashioned ethics

Our client service philosophy is simple: Under promise, over deliver. Or maybe it’s On time, on budget, on the nose. The customer is always right. These may be bygone clichés to some, but client satisfaction and personal integrity is everything to us.

03. curious and creative

Just to be clear, we like to be paid for our work. Still, learning about our clients, their hopes and dreams, their problems and solutions is fascinating to us. And the process of crafting excellent, interesting written work is our deepest pleasure. It’s the work we love; the payment is icing on the cake.

INTERVIEWING EXPERTS

Challenge: A Fortune 500 computer manufacturer wanted to explain to customers, prospects and trade partners how its product was being used in advanced scientific research and leading-edge technological solutions for business and industry.

Solution:  Thompson & Martin worked with the sales and marketing communications executives to identify important, leading-edge applications users.  Using extensive telephone interviews and applicable published materials, Thompson & Martin wrote case studies on subjects ranging from research on flu virus vaccines, to optimizing temperature and fluid dynamics in aluminum manufacturing, to discoveries on the usage of carbon nanotube molecules at a major university.

Results:  These case studies were published in the company’s customer magazine as well as in white papers and trade journals.  The company has been successful in illustrating its leadership and innovation in business and scientific problem solving.

A HEART FOR THE PEOPLE

Challenge: A very large residential real estate firm uses a quarterly employee newsletter to build camaraderie and share knowledge among its 1,600 sales associates and employees in 29 offices.

Solution: Thompson & Martin works with a variety of input sources (photos with captions, lengthy press releases, company documents, handwritten notes, and brief interviews) to produce a readable and enjoyable publication.  Normally, Thompson & Martin writes the entire 20-page publication in less than one week, requiring only minimal revisions.

Results: Employee morale at the extremely successful firm is very high and sales associates are well educated and connected with each other.  Thompson & Martin has been named for an outstanding service award by the client.

technical articles

Challenge: A start-up company with a sophisticated personal-care product needed to establish its credibility with medical professionals that would recommend the product.

Solution: Thompson & Martin interviewed medical professionals who helped develop the product. We found relevant research in technical journals. Combining the information, we ghost-wrote several articles that were published in trade journals.

winsome, informative blog posts

Challenge: A company with a health-care product wanted to teach consumers about a wide range of benefits from using it.

Solution: Weekly blog posts on the company website included technical information on proper use of the product as well as new, compelling reasons to try or increase usage.

Results: The fun and fascinating blog posts tied in a wide range of topics to promote the product and communicate its uses.

the pastor's column

Challenge: A large church’s newsletter featured a weekly column from the senior pastor. Although the pastor was an excellent writer, his time was severely limited by other responsibilities.

Solution: Working with the associate pastor to identify relevant, timely topics to be addressed by the pastor, we ghost-wrote columns for three years.

Results: The widely read column was effective at informing church members about what was happening in the church and in the pastor’s thoughts.
